M.S.W. Program

Dual Degree Program:  Master in Social Work, Master in Public Health

The M.S.W./M.P.H. Dual Degree Program in Maternal and Child Health offers persons interested in a career in social work and public health an alternative to the existing course of study for two separate programs. The Dual Degree Program allows students to earn two graduate degrees, a Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) and a Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) in two academic years, including two summers. All M.S.W. students, including advanced standing, may apply for entrance into this program. If both degrees were earned sequentially the completion period would be three and one-half years.

Students who choose this dual degree plan must first secure admission to the School of Social Work, and then separately apply to the Department of Maternal and Child Health, The University of Alabama-Birmingham School of Public Health, for admission to the M.P.H. Program. For more information on the MPH/MSW Dual Degree Program click here.
