TRAVEL FROM BIRMINGHAM AIRPORT

Tuscaloosa’s airport does not serve passenger airlines; thus, if you are not driving to Tuscaloosa, you will need to fly into the Birmingham, AL airport (which is an hour’s drive from Tuscaloosa). Shuttle service from the airport to Tuscaloosa is not inexpensive.  Rental cars can be reserved through most major rental car companies at the Birmingham airport. Participants who are flying into Birmingham for the conference are encouraged to coordinate with others to share the cost of a rental car.

The best deal is through E-Shuttle (Executive Shuttle Network). E-Shuttle service costs $24.83 each way ($49.66 roundtrip total), assuming there are at least six passengers in the van. E-Shuttle’s phone is (205) 702-4566, and their Web site address is http://www.eshuttle.net/. You may reserve a space by phone or online, and you may pay at the airport or ahead of time by phone (you may want to wait to pay at the airport, given that the rate increases for fewer passengers). E-shuttle accepts credit cards but not debit cards, and they do not take online payments.

Birmingham Door-To-Door Shuttle Service
The Birmingham Door-To-Door Shuttle Service departs from the Birmingham Airport and drops off passengers at the Four Points Hotel on campus or, upon request, to any other hotel in town. The regular fare for this service is $45.00 one way. After 8:45 p.m., an additional $30.00 is required.  However, the $30.00 can be shared by any others who are included in that trip. (In other words if you are traveling with a group, the $30.00 would be divided amongst everyone in your group). For an additional $10.00 fee, the shuttle will take you to any other specific location in town. The service is by reservation only and must be confirmed with any credit card. Payment must be made in U.S. currency. To make a reservation, call 1-888-349-1544. The Shuttle Service will wait for its passengers outside the baggage claim area at the airport at the agreed time. During the week, the service is open at 6 am and closes at 12:00 a.m. (Midnight), On Saturdays, the Service is open from 6:00 a.m. until 12:00 a.m. (Midnight), and on Sundays, the Service is open from 1:00 p.m. until 12:00 a.m. (Midnight).  Reservations can be made Monday thru Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.  To reach this Shuttle Service, contact their website:  http://www.birminghamdoortodoor.com/

DRIVING DIRECTIONS TO FOUR POINTS SHERATON HOTEL FROM BIRMINGHAM

From Birmingham, take Interstate 59/Interstate 20 to Exit 73 McFarland Blvd (Hwy 82). Turn right onto McFarland Blvd, drive approximately 2 miles and exit on to University Blvd (Hwy 215). At the end of the exit ramp turn right on University Blvd., quickly get in the left lane and veer left onto Paul Bryant Drive. The hotel is approximately a half mile ahead on the right. Alternatively, you may drive straight down University, turn left on Hackberry, then left on Bryant.

 

 

DIRECTIONS FROM SOUTH, NORTH AND WEST

From Columbus, Miss., take U.S. 82 east. After crossing the Black Warrior River bridge, take the University Blvd. exit. Turn right onto University Blvd., quickly get in the left lane and veer left onto Paul Bryant Drive. The hotel is approximately a half mile ahead on the right. Alternatively, you may drive straight down University, turn left on Hackberry, then left on Bryant.

From Tupelo, Miss. (and Memphis and Oxford, Miss.), take U.S. 78 east into Alabama and turn south on U.S. 43 toward Tuscaloosa. Take U.S. 43 south to U.S. 82 (McFarland Blvd.). Turn left onto McFarland Blvd. After crossing the Black Warrior River bridge, take the University Blvd. exit. Turn right onto University Blvd., quickly get in the left lane and veer left onto Paul Bryant Drive. The hotel is approximately a half mile ahead on the right. From New Orleans, La., take I-59/I-20 to Tuscaloosa, and in Tuscaloosa take Exit 73 McFarland Blvd (Hwy 82). From Jasper, Ala., take Hwy. 69 south. After crossing the Black Warrior River bridge, turn left onto University Blvd. Travel east through downtown Tuscaloosa and campus. Turn right on Hackberry and left on Bryant.

From Fayette, Ala., take U.S. 43 south to U.S. 82 (McFarland Blvd.). Turn left onto McFarland Blvd. After crossing the Black Warrior River bridge, take the University Blvd. exit. Turn right onto University Blvd., quickly get in the left lane and veer left onto Paul Bryant Drive. The hotel is approximately a half mile ahead on the right.
