In the Field: MSW student Sharon Andrews selected to help study sickle cell disease

MSW field student Sharon Andrews is completing her field placement at Mobile Infirmary Hospital and was recently selected by the hospital’s chief medical officer to help study patients with sickle cell disease.

For the first week of her field placement, Andrews shadowed the chief medical officer and his team. After meeting with Andrew’s supervisor in case management, the hospital’s chief medical officer requested to include her on his team for the study.

As part of the study, Andrews will be completing biopsychosocial assessments in order to identify uncovered needs and hopefully decrease emergency room visits of patients suffering with sickle cell.
