The University of Alabama School of Social Work is proud to announce that Dr. Dione King has been elected to serve on the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) National Nominating Committee as the Graduate Program Representative. Her term will begin on July 1, 2026.
CSWE recently announced the election of five new members to its Board of Directors and five new members to its National Nominating Committee. According to CSWE President and CEO Dr. Halaevalu Vakalahi, “We are thrilled to welcome these 10 outstanding leaders in social work education to CSWE governance—and we look forward to the ideas, energy, and enthusiasm they will bring with them to their leadership roles.”
Dr. King serves as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Professional Advancement at The University of Alabama School of Social Work. In this role, she oversees faculty affairs, curricular instruction and assessment, and provides supervision across key academic operations. Her leadership has been instrumental in advancing academic excellence and supporting the professional growth of faculty, staff, and students.
A respected scholar and educator, Dr. King earned both her Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Social Work degrees from the University of Georgia and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Spelman College.
As a member of the National Nominating Committee, Dr. King will play an important role in identifying and cultivating future leaders within CSWE, helping to strengthen the organization’s governance and advance the social work profession.
