To celebrate 50 years of collaboration, innovation and transformation, the School of Social Work has launched a scholarship fund to help social work students with a financial need buy textbooks. A $1,000 gift from the school’s Social Work Society was used to establish the scholarship, which is officially known as the Social Work 50th Anniversary Book Scholarship. In February, the school’s Board of Friends matched that gift to double the the scholarship fund. The scholarship will exist as long as money is available to fund textbooks for students. Anyone and everyone can give a gift to support the book scholarship fund!
Many people don’t know that textbooks are not billed through the student billing office at UA. For this reason, many students must wait on a refund from scholarships or financial aid. In turn, this puts many of them several weeks into their classes before they can purchase the books they need. This scholarship will change all of that for our students.
You can start now helping the School of Social Work support our bright and talented students. Visit give.ua.edu and search for “Social Work 50th Anniversary Book Scholarship” to make a gift.
