Background and professional experience
Abby graduated with his MSW from the University of Alabama and a BA in Psychology from Samford University. Prior to her current position in a general group practice, she worked exclusively with eating disorders in an intensive treatment setting. During that time, she obtained a CEDS (Certified Eating Disorders Specialist) through IAEDP (International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals) and is currently on the board for the Birmingham chapter. She enjoying working with college students/young adults and have worked at a university counseling center (UAB) as well as a substance abuse treatment center (Bradford Health Services).
Abby’s Capstone Project will evaluate eating disordered rate and body image perceptions among both white and black college female students. Specifically looking at two different universities; a predominately white and a predominately black school.
