Background and Professional Experience
Dozier Boltz is originally from Thomasville, Alabama. Laura then worked for several years in the Bessemer office of the Jefferson County Department of Human Resources in the foster care unit as a senior social worker. This position allowed Laura to see the many unique needs of children in foster care, which led to her desire to complete her dissertation research in this area. In addition to her graduate studies, Laura enjoys teaching undergraduate social work courses, answering questions about foster care, and spending time with her husband and four-year-old daughter.
Dozier Boltz’s research interests include foster care, social work education, mental health promotion, and animal assisted therapies.
