Background and Professional Experience
Krystal Dozier’s research focuses on the intersection of social work and higher education in the retention of first-generation college students (FGCS). Her dissertation focuses specifically on the retention of African American FGCS and the role of social work faculty and administrators in retention. Her work aligns with social work’s focus on social justice in the areas of race/ethnicity and class inequities. As society grapples with civil unrest and the impact of racism and discrimination, Dozier’s research is timely as institutions of higher education and social work educators and practitioners address how to create lasting and meaningful change.
