Background and professional experience:

Kimberly M. Lee-Okonya, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the Clinical Director, lead psychotherapist and owner/ founder of Life Begins Here Therapeutic & Counseling Services in Atlanta, GA. She is also an adjunct Social Work professor at the University of Alabama and founder of The Melanated Mommy Tribe. Kim is trained in Motivational Interviewing, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Advanced Perinatal Mental Health Psychotherapy, Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders, The Gottman’s Seven Principles of Making Marriage Work, Bringing Baby Home and Gottman Couples Therapy levels 1, 2 and 3 trained. She has a wide range of valuable experience having worked in psychiatric hospitals, medical hospitals, university counseling centers, state agencies, private practice, and infectious disease clinics as well as in primary care settings. Kim was recognized as one of Georgia Southern University’s 40 Under 40 recipients in the class of 2020 and received the Doctorate of Social Work Contribution to Scholarship Award from the University of Alabama School of Social Work, for the 2019-2020 school year.
