Background and professional experience
Throughout LaSharia Turner’s career, her focus has been working with children and adolescents, individuals with disabilities, individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and higher education.
Lasharia is a valuable, experienced social worker with a specialization in children and adolescent’s mental health, psychotherapy, behavior modification, trauma-informed care, social work education, crises intervention, ombudsman, social work processes and competencies, equity and inclusion, and title ix. She also serves an adjunct social work instructor and field liaison at the University of Alabama. LaSharia currently works as an equal opportunity and title ix practitioner at the University of Alabama.
For LaSharia’s Capstone Project, she plans to address the unique barriers experienced by female students of color following incidents of intimate partner violence (IPV) and sexual assault on college and university campuses.
