SSWR Recap, Lee Elected to Board of Directors

Dr. Hee Yun Lee was elected to a three-year term on SSWR Board of Directors.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Despite the threat of the ongoing global pandemic, representatives from the University of Alabama School of Social Work found ways to stay safe and make the trip to the nation’s capital for the 26th Annual Society for Social Work and Research (SSWR) Conference held at Marriott Marquis Washington DC.

In all, UASSW faculty participated in 26 different presentations either in person, over video conference or with the use of a digital poster. The school also represented with a booth highlighting our graduate programs, current open positions and accomplishments over the past year.

Conference attendees, local alumni and friends were also invited to a reception with Dean Shnavia Smith Hatcher which was well received among attendees.

Following the conclusion of this year’s SSWR conference, Hee Yun Lee, PhD assumed her elected role as a Director-at-Large for the organization where she will serve a three year term.

In this role, Lee could be asked to chair or co-chair of the following committees: nomination and election committee, awards committee, committee on publications, communications committee, fund development committee, membership committee, social policy committee, research capacity development committee, volunteer coordinator for the annual conference, and members of ad hoc committees and task forces which support the work of the Society’s Strategic Plan.
