BHWET Training Sites
The BHWET Program invites agencies meeting program criteria to host a BHWET Trainee. Trainees are selected through a competitive, tiered interview process and are selected based on their suitability for further clinical training. Students will have the opportunity to grow during practicum placement through:
- Specialized Field Seminar with members of the BHWET cohort.
- Trauma-informed, multiculturally sensitive, and integrative team-based learning modules.
- Additional professional development including trainings, conferences, and licensure preparation.
How to become affiliated:
- For an agency to support a BHWET student, the following criteria must be met and maintained:
- Be established as partnering agency with the School of Social Work and meet all placement requirements set forth by the Practicum Education Program including a signed Affiliation Agreement.
- Provide interns with learning opportunities specifically targeting children, adolescents, or young adults (up to age 25) with behavioral health concerns in an integrated health setting.
- Expose interns to interprofessional collaboration and communication within the agency setting.
- Provide opportunity for direct clinical experience utilizing trauma-informed behavioral health service delivery.
Affiliated Agencies
Any agency with an existing partnership with the School of Social Work can reach out to the Program Manager to discuss placing a BHWET Trainee. Please email bhwet@ua.edu for more information.
New Agency
If a new agency previously unaffiliated with the School of Social Work is interested in accepting an intern, an Agency Evaluation must be completed. Interested agencies can reach out to the BHWET Program Manager at bhwet@ua.edu or visit the Office of Experiential Programs.
