The University of Alabama School of Social Work was honored to host a powerful Reentry Simulation focused on helping community members better understand the realities faced by our neighbors who are justice-involved. Through this experience, participants walked through the barriers, decisions, and challenges individuals often encounter while rebuilding their lives after incarceration. This experience reminds us of all of the importance of empathy, advocacy, and community support. We are deeply grateful to the West Alabama Chamber of Commerce, West Alabama Workforce and Community Development, and RECONNECT Second Chance for partnering with us for this event. Also, thank you to our volunteers and participants who gave their time and energy to make this meaningful learning experience possible. Together, we continue to discover, serve, and strengthen our community through education and action.
