Meet Rachel Luckie, a senior BSW student expected to graduate in 2027!
This summer, Rachel expanded her advocacy efforts through civic engagement, public safety initiatives, and legislative advocacy. Her involvement in a local sheriff’s campaign deepened her understanding of community partnership, accountability, and the impact of local leadership on creating positive change.
“While the campaign narrowly missed victory, the experience reinforced my belief that meaningful change often begins at the local level and strengthened my interest in policy, advocacy, and systems-level social work.”
Through her advocacy work, Rachel also connected with supporters of Justice for Brittney Wood and has joined efforts to raise awareness about Brittney’s disappearance while supporting initiatives that seek justice for victims and their families. These experiences have allowed her to broaden her impact and bring attention to issues affecting vulnerable individuals, families, and communities across Alabama.
In addition to her community involvement, Rachel has pursued opportunities to further her education and professional development through scholarships that support future social workers and public servants.
