Meet Makenzie Pate, an Advanced Standing MSW student expected to graduate in August 2026!
This summer, Makenzie is completing her practicum placement with Jeremiah’s Community Garden, where she is combining her passion for community engagement with hands-on social work experience.
Through her placement, Makenzie is developing a new program, preparing a grant application to support its implementation, and assessing the garden’s accessibility to pursue funding opportunities that will make the space more accessible for volunteers.
By strengthening community resources and increasing accessibility, Makenzie’s work is helping create opportunities for greater inclusion and engagement. We are proud to see her applying social work skills in innovative ways and making a meaningful impact through her practicum experience.
