Meet Sabrina Childers, a second-year student in the Traditional MSW Program who is expected to graduate in Spring 2027!
This summer, Sabrina is continuing her work as an Adult Outpatient Case Manager in rural community mental health while preparing for her upcoming practicum placement. In her role, she helps individuals experiencing serious mental illness and substance use concerns access critical resources, including housing support, benefits, medication assistance, transportation, and treatment services.
“Working in a rural area has shown me how much advocacy matters in everyday social work practice. Many clients are facing barriers that go far beyond their diagnosis, and I’m reminded often that small steps can make a meaningful difference in their life.”
Through her work, Sabrina has seen firsthand the impact of connecting direct practice, advocacy, and community resources to support individuals and families. Her experiences continue to strengthen her passion for social work and her commitment to serving rural communities.
