
Meet Shaterrian Henry, a BSW student who is expected to graduate in May 2027!
As a non-traditional student, Shaterrian brings resilience, determination, and a strong sense of purpose to her social work journey. At 47 years old, she is pursuing her Bachelor of Social Work degree with plans to continue her education by earning a Master of Social Work in the future.
Shaterrian’s commitment to academic excellence has earned her the Harold Hood Academic Excellence Award and recognition as a Dean’s Scholar during Little Hall Honors Day. These accomplishments reflect her dedication to personal and professional growth.
Outside the classroom, Shaterrian serves as the department secretary for Social Work Service at the Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center, where her professionalism, compassion, and commitment to service positively impact veterans, colleagues, and the broader community. She also remains actively involved in her church and continues to seek opportunities to uplift others and advocate for positive change.
Grounded by her personal motto, “What is meant for you will never miss you,” Shaterrian approaches each day with faith, perseverance, and confidence in her purpose.
