Scholarship Questions

How do I access the scholarship management system?

You can access the scholarship system by logging into myBama and clicking on Admissions & Scholarships on the left column.

Why can't I access myBama?

Only students with an active CWID and login can access myBama. Once you are accepted into the program, you will receive notification from UA regarding your credentials.

Do I need to apply for each scholarship listed?

No. If you enter your basic information into the system, you will automatically be eligible for any of the general scholarships. However, you must complete the supplemental questions for the School of Social Work by the stated deadline to be considered for any of our scholarships.

Why are there different due dates listed in the system?

The Alabama Scholarship Award Manager hosts all scholarships at UA, and different colleges may have different due dates. However, it is important to note that the School of Social Work scholarship deadlines are as follows:

– Newly admitted Advanced Standing MSW Students: February 7

– Newly admitted Traditional (2-yr) MSW Students: March 7

– Returning MSW Students: March 7

– Returning BSW Students: March 7

When should I expect to find out if I received a scholarship?

Our goal is to send email notifications to students who have received scholarships around February 7 for newly admitted Advanced Standing MSW Students and around March 7 for newly admitted Traditional MSW Students and all returning students.

Am I eligible to apply for scholarships if I’m an incoming freshman/transfer student?

Yes! All students are welcome to apply for scholarships.

Can I edit my application after I’ve submitted it?

Yes. Your application can be edited up until the deadline.

Will my application be saved if I don’t finish it in one sitting?

Yes. The system will save your application, so you can come back to it later.

Are scholarships renewable each year? If so, what are the requirements?

It depends on the scholarship. School of Social Work scholarships are typically not renewable. However, some of the UA scholarships are. This should be outlined in your award letter.

Can I reapply next year if I don’t receive one this year?

Definitely! Students are encouraged to apply every year for scholarships. As a returning student, you will be able to access the system when it opens in the Fall semester, so mark your calendars each year so you remember to do so!

Will my application carry over from one year to the next?

No. Your application will only be eligible for the upcoming academic year. You will need to reapply the following year to be considered for the next year, even if you have received scholarships from SSW in the past.
