About the Behavioral Health Workforce and Education Training Program

The Behavioral Health Workforce and Education Training (BHWET) Program is a federally funded grant through the Health Resources and Services Agency (HRSA) with a goal of increasing the number of clinical social workers specializing in mental and behavioral healthcare with a specific focus on understanding and responding to the needs of children, adolescents, and young adults (up to age 25) at risk for mental health and behavioral health disorders. The BHWET Program is working toward this goal through three foundational strategies:

  • Providing training and support to MSW students completing practicum with a focus on the identified population.
  • Fostering community partnerships to provide pathways for additional cultivation of clinical social workers.
  • Promoting further professional development and specialized training for Licensed Independent Clinical Social Work Supervisors.

This program is supported by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as part of an award totaling $2.4 million dollars with 0% financed with non-governmental sources.
