October is Mental Health Screening Month! Join us for an engaging training that explores depression from an interdisciplinary perspective. Led by a licensed counselor and clinical social worker, this session will highlight how depression impacts multiple populations and communities, and how collaborative approaches strengthen support. You’ll gain insight into screening tools, community health initiatives, and practical strategies to recognize and respond to depression with empathy and effectiveness.

Speakers

Andrea Early LICSW-S

Andrea Early is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker working as a case manager at the Tuscaloosa VA. She previous held the position of staff therapist at The University of Alabama. Ms. Early is a Birmingham native with a Bachelors in Health Science from The University of Alabama and a Masters of Social Work from Northwest Nazarene University. Ms. Early is a supervisor for Bachelor level social work students, an adjunct professor in the university’s School of Social Work, and a member of Black Faculty and Staff Association (BFSA). She has served fourteen years in the United States Army Reserves and holds the rank of Major. She has experience working with veteran populations, child protection, community mental health, and substance abuse treatment.

Wendi H. Hogue LPC, NCC

Wendi Hogue, M.Ed., LPC, NCC, is a licensed professional counselor with over 10 years of experience in clinical practice and community-based mental health initiatives across Alabama. She currently serves as a Project Manager with VitAL, focusing on Project Possibilities, which is a statewide initiative that expands law enforcement diversion programs, real-time data analysis, and recovery supports, including Medication-Assisted Treatment and peer services, across eight Alabama counties. Previously, Wendi directed programs at The University of Alabama through VitAL, including Project FREEDOM and the Alabama Workforce Stabilization Program, where she focused on improving access to recovery, enhancing opioid response, and promoting workplace mental health. In addition, Wendi is the founder of Red Door Counseling, LLC, where she provides individual and couples therapy with a focus on trauma recovery, substance use, and relationship challenges. She earned a Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Montevallo and holds credentials as a Licensed Professional Counselor in Alabama and a National Certified Counselor.
