PhD Program

The Graduate School oversees the application process for all masters and doctoral programs. Therefore, all applications begin via the UA Graduate Admission portal and are referred to the School of Social Work if the University’s minimum requirements are judged to have been met. Applicants should be aware that the School of Social Work PhD Program application materials go beyond those minimum requirements to include a Statement of Purpose (900 to 2,250 words in length), a curriculum vitae, and evidence of scholarly writing ability.

Social Work Financial Aid and Scholarships

The School of Social Work is committed to working with every student who qualifies for admission to create a financial aid plan. UA and the School of Social Work offer a variety of financial aid resources to assist students in need and with limited finances. Financial aid through the University and our School consists of scholarships, grants, loans and work study. Current students also may qualify for stipends and emergency loan funds through the School.

We encourage students to start planning early to fund their academic career, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and to take note of deadlines for applying for financial aid to ensure you receive the maximum financial aid awards.
