World AIDS Day is in December! Be part of an inspiring conversation on advancing wellbeing and access in HIV care and prevention. Hear from two incredible leaders, Dr. Coy Stout, a national innovator in patient-centered access and social work education, and Michael Fordham, a trailblazer in HIV prevention and PrEP services at UAB. Together, they’ll explore how leaders can drive change, challenge stigma, and build a future where everyone has access to compassionate, holistic care.

Dr. Coy Stout
Dr. Coy Stout is a market access innovator and social work educator with nearly three decades of experience advancing equitable access to care for people affected by conditions associated with stigma, including HIV. Currently Executive Director of U.S. Patient Support at AstraZeneca, Dr. Stout leads teams in developing and implementing patient-centered access strategies that bridge innovation and compassion. Over the course of his career, he has played a pivotal role in more than thirty pharmaceutical product launches, shaping national payer and access programs that prioritize patient dignity and public health impact. Before joining AstraZeneca, Dr. Stout held senior leadership positions at Gilead Sciences, Brii Biosciences, and Lykos Therapeutics, where his work focused on expanding access to breakthrough therapies in infectious disease, mental health, and other high-need therapeutic areas. His professional journey began in HIV care and advocacy—first as a home healthcare coordinator at Whitman-Walker Health and later as Program Administrator for Maryland’s AIDS Drug Assistance Program—experiences that continue to ground his commitment to health equity and social justice. In addition to his corporate leadership, Dr. Stout serves as a faculty liaison and adjunct instructor for the University of Alabama School of Social Work’s Washington, DC Program, where he teaches policy, leadership, and practicum courses across the BSW, MSW, and DSW programs. His teaching emphasizes anti-oppressive frameworks and the integration of policy and practice to empower the next generation of social workers. Dr. Stout earned his Doctor of Social Work from Simmons University, his MSW and BS from the University of Alabama, and a Certificate in Diversity and Inclusion from Cornell University.
Michael Fordham
Michael Fordham serves as the Program Director in the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Division of Infectious Diseases, leading the Division’s comprehensive HIV prevention initiatives, including the Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) Clinic and HIV/STI testing programs. Michael has led the expansion of clinical services and implementation of cutting-edge PrEP therapies, establishing the Division as a leader in HIV prevention in Alabama. His work focuses on improving access to prevention care, reducing health disparities, and driving innovation in patient-centered practices. Michael earned his Master of Science in Health Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and brings a decade of experience in healthcare operations, patient-centered practices, and program development.
