Campus Transportation
While on campus, students are encouraged to utilize the campus transportation system Crimson Ride. There is no fee to ride the campus buses which are air-conditioned. For ease of access navigating the campus bus system, we recommend downloading the Passio Go! app.
Each bus is wheelchair accessible and can kneel to sidewalk level and is equipped with a ramp that can be deployed in order to allow a passenger in a wheelchair to board. Each bus also has designated wheelchair spaces.
The Tuscaloosa Transit Authority or TTA is a local, government owned bus system based in Tuscaloosa. The TTA offers routes that pass through the campus and surrounding areas. You can find the University Shuttle Route here.
Joyride is a golf cart service that is available for hire to transport students in and around campus. Request a ride by downloading the Joyride app.
Parking on Campus
Students will need to park at the Transportation Hub Parking Deck before arriving at the Gorgas Library. Closer to the event, a parking deck permit will be sent to all students, which will allow them to park in this deck for free during orientation. The address for the Transportation Hub Parking Deck is: 315 Hackberry Lane, Tuscaloosa, AL 35487. Wheelchair accessible parking is available at the Gorgas Library without an additional campus permit. If you have any issues utilizing the accessible parking, please contact the MSW Program staff immediately so they can assist you.
Students who have registered to stay in campus housing during orientation will be provided with a temporary parking permit for the residential zone they are placed in. Please indicate that you will need a residential parking permit when reserving campus housing during orientation registration.
Airport Shuttles
There are a few different options for transportation services from Birmingham airport to Tuscaloosa including private and shared car services. If you are interested in being connected with other students to reserve a shared ride service, please be sure to indicate this during the orientation registration survey.
