Before commencing her doctoral studies at UA, Kefentse was a lecturer in the Department of Social Work at the University of Botswana. She teaches undergraduate courses in social work with communities and groups, social work with disabilities, fieldwork education and personal development. She has served in different capacities as part of her service to the university, the profession and the community.  Some of her research activities include research on women`s organizations as well as caregivers of people with disabilities. Kefentse has also served as Module Coordinator, Program Reviewer and Marker at Botswana Open University (BOU) on their Certificate in Community Based Work with Youth and Children (CBCY) Programme from 2014 to date.

Prior to joining academia, Kefentse worked as a Social Welfare Officer at Gaborone City Council. Her responsibilities included providing psychosocial support to individuals, families and communities. She actively took part in providing technical support to community based organization`s economic development initiatives.
