Biography

Christa McCrorie is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and Clinical Supervisor with extensive experience in higher education, clinical practice, and continuing education program development. She serves as Instructor and Continuing Education Coordinator at The University of Alabama School of Social Work, where she teaches BSW and MSW courses, advises students, and oversees professional learning opportunities for social workers across the state.
   
Christa is the founder of Creative Therapeutic Solutions LLC, where she specializes in working with LGBTQIA+ individuals and those processing trauma. She has been a frequent presenter at state, national, and international conferences, speaking on topics such as LGBTQIA+ youth well-being, trauma-informed care, and transgender health needs. Her professional contributions also include authoring the workbook Rediscovering You: Exploring Gender Identity and Sexual Orientation for Established Adults, hosting the podcast Exploring Gender Identity and Sexual Orientation as an Established Adult, and contributing to peer-reviewed journals, media outlets, and professional blogs on social work and queer mental health.
   
Dedicated to advocacy and education, Christa has been featured in Social Work Update and Social Workers Speak, and she regularly develops and hosts continuing education workshops for practicing social workers. She also serves her community as a NICU volunteer and a volunteer birth doula for under-resourced families in Alabama.
   
In addition to her clinical and teaching roles, Christa is ordained as a layperson in the Plum Village tradition of the Order of Interbeing, grounding her work in compassion, interbeing, and mindfulness.
   
Christa earned both her Master of Social Work (2017) and Bachelor of Social Work with Honors (2015) from The University of Alabama, where she was part of the Honors BSW and University Honors programs.
